| Lotro Power Leveling |
We've been experimenting a bit to see what the best way is to get a toon caught up to him is. I was curious if there were any tried and true ways of having a high level player help a low level player gain levels. The only flaw in that plan is that we have no idea if there are any areas with large amounts of spawns that would be suitable for that. You are going to miss out on the deeds which have a direct influence on your virtue traits which is a must for higher level toons - so even though you have a high level character your going to be gimped and less effective then you should be - which is going to be no fun to run high level content - so you will have to go back and grind the low level areas again anyways - not to mention the class traits and race traits - also as already mentioned you are not going to know your class very well and when you start doing Moria instances you will be eaten alive.
- The developers of the game coded the way in which exp is acquired to minimuze the rewards of power leveling. What this means mostly is that kill xp from mobs, the lion's share of it, goes to the higher level person, regardless of whether the mob is grey to them. Your 'cut' of the exp will be very small.
- This code goes into play whether or not your friend are grouped (i.e. the quasi group that 'helpers' outside the group are added into the exp pool and cut the exp for all)As for the power leveling idea, I honestly don't have any problem with you and your friends leveling in this way, I think it's great, and certainly your choice how you want to play the game.
- I was shocked and angered when they designed and released Rohan with Hytbold dailies working the way they did, and then decided to suspend people for playing the game the way it was built. I understand if people were excessively blocking access to the areas for other players, but I can't quite see how that could have been the case, what with open tapping allowing all comers to get full quest credit for joining kills, so the instances should still not have been blocked even if they were heavily populated.
- I was further annoyed that as a paying customer that had not even done the offending behavior, the content was blocked from access for me too, for weeks, when Turbine surely knew full well what they had built in the first place and how people could use it. It was extremely unimpressive to say the least.Yeah, I usually bust out 100% Exp boosts on my alts anyway. The only downside to power leveling in this game is that you miss out on most of the deeds/rep so you end up having to crawl that raid-ready wall at the end anyway..
- But at least you're max level so it's much easier to plow through everything. And no worries about rushing or feeling like a grind. I'm an alt-aholic so will be playing through all the content more than once at a leisurely pace. This is just so I have one character that's able to hang with their higher level ones when they don't feel like playing their lowbie alts as well.
It would be so much better for your buddy to roll an alt and level up with you till you reach his "higher level" toon.I rarely if ever post stuff like this but this game has been around for 5 years now and there are those of us with lots of toons and we are tired of grinding out levels with alts. With that said, this has been the best power leveling I've ever seen.
This is also the best way to grind TP. My friend needed about more 300 TP on tuesday for shared wardrobe. We just had her alts follow me around as I kill everything. I could see someone foregoing quests to grind TP and exp at the same time., because it is pretty good exp.
